The Council of Higher Education, commissioned by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Higher Education, May Allah protect him, issued a royal decree number 1093/M B on 21/11/1428 H, adopting a number of colleges and deanships at the university, including the Deanship of Admissions and Registration. There is no doubt the Deanship of Admissions and Registration is a fundamental pillar in the university’s academic purpose where it manages the Department of Academic Affairs starting from the acceptance of students, and the registration process for courses during the different academic terms, all the way through the end of graduation of students and their receipt of the official graduation documents.

The Deanship of Admissions and Registration is the deanship by which the registration of students wishing to enroll in the university and those who meet the admission and registration requirements and thus approve their admission to the university. It is the first stop for all students at the university, and the last stop for students as they receive the appropriate certification and academic degree.

The following is a list for important key terms and their definitions contained in the system of Admissions and Registration:

1. Credit hour: An academic unit for a number of weekly lectures identified by the university.
2. Academic term: A semester consisting of a number of weeks that makes up the time period between the beginning and end of study.
3. Academic year: Consists of two mandatory terms and an optional summer semester.
4. Grade point average: The average of all grades from different courses during a single academic term.
5. Cumulative grade point average: The average all grades from different courses from all terms completed up to date. The higher grade from repeated classes is the only one calculated.
6. Subject: The curriculum with specific objectives, content, and theoretical and practical activities. It is also an educational unit relevant to other subjects.
7. Curriculum: A set of course materials, theoretical and practical activities where success in it leads to awarding the student with a degree in a particular specialty.
8. Prerequisite: The course material that must be studied prior to registration to a particular class that depends on it.
9. Study Load: The total hours recorded for a student in a course and there is a limit.
